On leaving school in 1979 Reuben was linked with Malachi Rastanational Sound

which consisted of his childhood friends and brethrin.

In the early 80's Reubenbegan moving with his brethrin Blakamix

and was active with him in the time of the creation of the Blakamix Studio

untill today and appeared on various releases. In the late 80's Reuben set up the original Unitone Studio

which at the heart of it was a Fostex 4 track cassette recorder/mixer,

a cheap Yamaha keyboard a Yamaha drum machine and GBS Spring reverb

(the drum machine and spring reverb from Blakamix).

 'A lot of the music then was myself and my brethrin PG

although sometimes other people were involved in it also' says Reuben about them early days.

Unitone was working with local artists likeKojack Irie(now Jahko Lion),

Tatty Levi, Jimmy Ranks, Kalvin Judah, Phonso-Dan,

Dennis Nolan(having releases with Blakamix and Ariwa amongst others.),

Zebby Blax, Fire, Patoo Briggy and others including a girl named Louise

who was about 14 at the time, who done her first recording with Reuben

and later went on to acheive props as Loupie Lou,

a white girl who MC'd and recorded with Boy George.

Reuben was also brethrin of Dread & Fred the Digital Dub Duo who brought in a new vibe.

'Yeh, I was there with Dread & Fred when they were cutting the original Warrior Stance to Dub Plate'

which was to become Jah Shaka's Anthem at that time, cut down at Terry Neumans place.

It was when the Dub Duo were working on their 2nd album for Shaka

(On High),that one evening Idren Natural and Jacob Naphtali passed round and

endedup recording the original version of 'Highest Region'.

They passed by IronworksStudio and played Dread & Fred the track on cassette tape

and as they were workin on their next LP asked if they could re do it for the album

to which Reuben agreed to. Idren Natural has gone from stregnth to stregnth having

releases(including Roar Like A Lion from Unitone Soundimentional) and touring Europe.

Coming up to date Reuben has teamed up with Isses Dreadand formed the Dread Unity label,

who's first release was 'Dem Come' featuringvocals of Dill-In-Jah, part of the African Descendants

out of Bermuda, MCing ofMC Trooper(Pudung Di Gun), and melodica of Minds Eye Dub(Chant Dem).
